Bengal Awas Yojana
In Banglar Awas Yojana, the shelterless and mud-built house dwellers were selected from Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC), 2011 database. Under this scheme, Beneficiaries receive a total amount of Rs. 1,20,000 in 3 (three) installments for construction of their own households. First installment of Rs. 60,000 is allocated for construction upto lintel level from plinth; after contruction upto roof cast from lintel level, Rs. 50,000 is released as second installment and finally Rs. 10,000 is received by the beneficiary while whole structure is completed.
In accordance with the target of 9822 Households in 2016-17, 9668 benefiaries have completed their construction work and rest 154 households have reached the last stage of construction. In this initial years of the scheme, Nirman Sahayaks of Gram Panchayats were trained regarding all technical aspects including plan and estimates of the houses.
In 2017-18 financial year,the district had a target of 2836 household out of which 2813 construction have been completed and rest 23 houses will be completed shortly.
Out of the target of 7500 households in 2018-19,7466 number of beneficiaries have completed construction and work for 38 households are going on at the last stage.
In 2019-20, 4965 constructions have been completed and rest 166 construction works are still on the field.
Out of total 2766 number of sanctioned households in 2020-21,except 381 number of cases,construction of all other households have been completed.
For 2020-21, Dakshin Dinajpur has the target to provide houses to 3022 number of houseless families. But in accordance with the permissible left out target in permanent wait list (PWL) under SECC , 2011, 223 beneficiaries have been sanctioned for 2020-21. Out of that, 215 number of beneficiaries have already received the first allotment for the said purpose.
Since April,2016, total 28278 beneficiaries have been sanctioned houses under BAY. Till date, 27304 families have completed construction of households which amounts to rupees 327.648 crore in total. It is noteworthy here that the said amount of money has been rolled in the rural economy of Dakshin Dinajpur over the years and has contributed in improving the livelihood of local people both directly and indirectly.
